3DCP: Individualisation/ The Client

Client: Kaziah Ashman- Griffiths
Designer's chosen field: Architecture
Architectural structure: Wooden Cabin, which could be used continuously throughout the year and can be easily transformed for whatever purpose in a log cabin.
Location: Alaska, located in Northwest Canada. It is the perfect location for a wooden cabin due to its diverse open spaces, mountains and forests. It is also the destination for outdoor activist such as mountain biking, skiing and kayaking.

For this project I was allocated a client to work with and negotiate creative proposals with, suitable to my clients needs within my chosen discipline. This also meant that I had to adapt my designs and methodology to unique requirements of my customer. Overall, I was committed to fulfilling and even exceeding the design brief by pushing creative boundaries. I had to hold a meeting to discuss with my client what they were looking for- similar to real life projects. From this discussion I was able to create a mood board with a collection of images that explores my customers 5 key words (man-made, soft, inside, winter, wood). It was a way in which I could openly place all my ideas and experiments onto one page. It also enabled me to show the client a proposed look without investing too much in a failed direction. Overall, it helped me establish all of the baselines that eventually lead into a style guide; colour pallets, shapes, forms, structures and layout.
