3DCP: fixtures & Fittings/ Material research

Prior to creating any object its important to consider the basic factors such as the design, budget and quality attributes . Evaluating the needs and goals of the product is also vital before committing to a particular material ;with each one having pros and cons. I knew that there are so many different types of materials out there which are used in creating light shades, making it difficult for me choose. I became fascinated in the idea of having a unique compositions. Therefore, decided that my structural design for my light shade will consist of 0.5mm flat polypropylene plastic. Its transparency enables a reasonable diffusion of light to emit through. It is also cheap and has a high heat resistance meaning, it can easily transfer light without getting damaged or melting. But most importantly, it is easy to cut/shape ,as I wanted my design to be made
up slots that fit into each other. This would enable
it to be flat packed light shade that my customer can easily put together.
