3DCP: Catalyst/ Minimalism

Image
Minimalism is an Art movement which began in the 1960's. It is characterized by simplicity and the ideology that "less is more". Likewise, minimalist homes are plain, calming and liberating. They usually consist of empty spaces, flat surfaces, clean lines, focal points, simplicity, plants and restrained colour palettes. Moodboard This mood board is a collection of images that explore the term 'minimalism'. It was a way in which I could openly place all my ideas and experiments onto one page. It also enabled me to show others a proposed look without investing too much in a failed direction. Overall, it helped me establish all of the baselines that eventually lead into a style guide; colour pallets, shapes and layout. John Pawson's minimalist style within home interiors was something I aimed to recreate. His style demands designers to restrain themselves from going over the top, but instead to only select essential furnishing that deliver maximum impact...

3DCP: 3RS/ Final Outcome/ Presentation Sheet

From my original object (plastic containers) which are predominantly used to store goods/foods I was able to create and design a shipping container café. I had a carefully thought contemporary interior. The classic black and white colour combination was matched with my white furniture (made from foam board) to create a stylish yet edgy space. Whereas, the bold wallpaper was chosen to give my café an authentic handmade look and feel. I took particular attention to the small details of my café, such as the hand made pillows for the seats, created for comfort. If this wasn't a model, my outside furniture(chairs) would have been made from poly rattan, as this fabric is manufactured specifically for outdoor use due to its weather-proof properties. The flooring would have been white laminated wood, as it creates a specious and light atmosphere. It is resistant to stains, impacts and scratches. Artificial grass would have also been added, in order to make my outdoor seating area to lo...

3DCP: 3R'S /Caravan inspiration/ Container Cafe

Image
Initial sketches of Caravans. Case study: researched comelite-arch containers. Caravans are a wondrous invention that architects and interior designers tend to ignore. It is home from home, rather than just a mode of transport. From my research, I discovered that there is over a million caravans in the UK alone, all which are different. Including Turn axe caravans, pop top caravans and tiny teardrop trailers. Researching different types of caravans was what triggered my next idea of creating a container café which can easily be moved around, rather than being in a fixed location.  My container café would house my customers and allow the to eat in a relaxed environment. Like all other container cafes it will be small but exceptionally unique, with a personnel door and certified electrics. When designing my model I decided that the frontal area, will be used as an open space. With artificial grass and foam board tables and chairs. I also decided that it will be accompanied w...
