Prior to creating my final 3D model I decided to draw some rough sketches in my book, as this is an important element of any design process. Conceptualizing my idea on paper has always been and will continue to be an important part of the design process. It was easy,fast and could be done anywhere. For example the sketches below I completed at the library, classroom and comfort of my home. This enabled me to constantly develop my ideas or work back into them if I felt that they lacked interest/ detail. I also noticed that the process was visual exploration of ideas, as one sketch would lead to another (showing an exploration of ideas). My initial sketches were of wooden boats- focusing on the shapes, structure and planks.For this I had to gain knowledge of the different selection of boats on the market, from traditional boats to classic yachts. I knew I wanted my designs to be a mixture of traditional and modern techniques and materials ,similar to a 'classic small craft boat...
